South Lane 3.7" Gun Emplacements, Cheshire

This is where it all starts, early doors.

Some of this site is seperated into two as a farmer owns some of the land, the only trouble we had was with a guy who lived next door saying checking out the tower might be dangerous.
The AA Battery was used to attack the Luffwaffer over Burtonwood Airbase and Liverpool Docks during the Liverpool and Manchester ‘Blitz’. It was home to six 3.7″ guns, stores and a radio room. A POW camp was built before the AA Battery so that the Luffwaffer would not bomb their own people.

The tower thought to be a water tower at the front of the site was a Gun and Search Light placement to look over the former POW camp.

Thanks for looking!
