Tate & Lyle Sugar Silo, Liverpool

Grade II listed and based at Huskisson dock in Liverpool, when we first arrived we couldn’t work out if the place was in use or not. After seeing photographs from other explorers we lined up for the curved ladder climb. After a while you could place your heels on the ladder rungs and your toes against the concrete and just walk to the top!

Once up top, you can walk into a room running the length of the silo. Beat up and worn out machinery sits unused, when we first came to look at this a large gantry crossing the road joined this building.
After digging about one of the guys slid underneath a thick sheet to reveal a staircase down to a floating gantry. Not a particularly tall building when stood on the roof but our low powered torches couldn’t make out the floor.
