Thelwall Viaduct, Warrington

Thelwall Viaduct carries the M6 motorway over the Manchester Ship Canal and the River Mersey. It is between Junction 20 & 21 of the M6. The viaduct is actually two seperate bridges with the Old Viaduct which is Northbound for the M6 which opened in 1963 and the Southbound bridge for the M6 which opened in 1995. Both viaducts are 1.35km long.
I dont think you release until your up close how big these are, We visited the newer viaduct first and the older second. The insides of the viaduct are very repetitive but watching Appo nearly knocking himself out is quite amusing every time we passed through a ‘submarine’ hatch.
