White Star Line Offices / Albion House, Liverpool

I’ve often walked past or stopped at the traffic lights, staring up at those fire escape ladders, thinking what a simple way up. As it turns out I never used the escape, I used the scaffolding next door.

White Star Line once known as Ismay, Imrie & Company used the building as their headquarters until 1927 when they merged with Cunard Line. In1912 the employees working inside the building, received the news concerning the Titanic sinking but were too scared to leave the building to announce the news. Instead they read out the list of the dead from one of the front balconies.

Luckily we managed to access a un-alarmed open window, sadly everything is office clad inside.
Apparently scousers call this building the streaky bacon building…
