Park Hill, Sheffield

I met up with the UE originators Sui & OneByOne in a icey Sheffield for a night of tight holes.
The target for the evening was the Park Hill estate, finished in 1961. This complex might have been a fantastic place to live in the 60’s and 70’s. Your toilet would have been inside, you would not have shared your house with another family and because all of your friends used to live in rotten houses like yourself they too would have been moved into the estate.

Add a bit of crime and various recession into the mix and you’ve gotten yourself a cracking gaff. The re-development work carried out by Urban Splash now will insure an estate full of richer types, artists and other contemporaries. The complete opposite of the original market. Something that would have cost you £8000 will now cost you £90,000+.

We also bobbed up a small crane in the centre as we headed home!
End.
