Sólheimasandur & Seljavallalaug, Iceland

Everyone knows the story so I wont go into too much detail. Late in 1973 the Douglas Super DC-3 above was forced to crash land on Sólheimasandur beach and the majority of the aircraft has been there since. We walked the few miles from the road as it was probably not the best idea talking some awful south Korean rental car across a beach. Luckily on the walk back someone picked us up and then passed on some information about an old geothermal pool that was abandoned for quite some time in the mountains. I’m not sure of its current status as I think the locals now do little bits and pieces to keep it from falling to bits.

It was like being in the bath but was beyond cold when we got out. Shouts to the couple in the 4×4 that let us know about the place!
